WONDERWALLS
If you love a fabulous wallpaper, we have a secret to share. A certain rock chick who is making quite a name for herself in the interior design world has collaborated with Liberty in the form of two limited edition wallpaper designs using some of our own iconic patterns.
This wonder woman is such a big fan of her latest Liberty print wallpapers that she’s covered her car in one of the designs! Her name? Meg Mathews. Who else would be so bold?
We caught up with Meg in the Liberty Style Service department, which happens to be an oft-frequented place when Meg’s in need of a rocking frock and is looking particularly snazzy thanks to a few rolls of python wallpaper from her new range.
Where did the collaboration start?
I have always loved Liberty, so when I was approached by the store to create an exclusive design I had a nosey in the archives and fell in love with the micro florals and poppy prints. It was great fun adding twists to the traditional fabrics by mixing them up with my signature skulls, pineapple designs and a seasoning of snakeskin print.
In your new life as an interiors guru, how often do you redecorate your own space?
Every ten days or so. Honestly! I tried out a graffiti mural last week, which I didn’t feel quite worked, so next week I’m going to paint a giant zebra on the living room wall. I’ll let you know how it looks. I love changing my interior space around. As I’m coming up with concepts all the time for wallpapers it’s often the place I might road test new ideas. I’m going to paint giant stag beetles in the kitchen next.
What are your tips to wallpaper virgins?
Cover every surface. There’s nothing worse than having just one ‘feature’ wall that’s been covered in wallpaper. If you’re going to commit to a wallpaper you love, go the whole hog, cover the ceiling, the back of the door and just go for it. That way, you’ll make a fantastic statement.
What do you wear when you decorate at home?
Agent Provocateur and very high YSL’s.
What do you listen to when you’re painting and decorating?
Smooth FM all the way, there’s always loads to sing along to!
Meg’s Liberty print wallpapers in python, pineapples and skulls retail at £89.00 per metre.
Which one do you love? Have your say…

Ah! loving the grey pink and white skull wall paper!
Nice one Meg!
