Menswear Pick of Spring ’09
Continuing our series on the Liberty Renaissance, our make-over for 2009, we have been asking the buyers to pick their favourite pieces. We asked them to select items from the new season that are either new online and ones that aren’t even on the shopfloor yet, but that will be available from the 14th February. We wanted to know what is on their personal to-buy list, not just their Liberty one. Today is the turn of Stephen Ayres, our Menswear buyer…
Lanvin silver knot cufflinks, £210
I love the simplicity of these silver knot cufflinks from Lanvin, I’ve got a summer full of weddings this year so I will be wearing these to add some simple style to a beautiful white shirt.
I love the way that Christopher Bailey has taken a traditional shape such as the single breasted trench, but by using a creased fabric and in matt grey makes it feel really fresh and new. This is fantastic for wearing with jeans or cotton trousers through the transitional spring months and with Burberry Prorsum being new to Liberty for SS09 they will be snapped us fast.
With spring hopefully on it’s way I’m not the only one anticipating sunshine as this great seersucker shirt with roll up sleeves is already flying out. I will be wearing it with some tailored shorts for a super sheek summer look, but If I can’t wait that long for the sun it will look equally as amazing with a pair of APC new standard jeans.
