Alison Heyhoe's colourful Islington studio where she creates her beautiful scarves

I had a pot of Earl Grey tea with scarf designer Alison Heyhoe of Lousada Heyhoe; who  illuminated me on her inspiration, textile design and why she loves the Liberty scarf room.

On her inspiration… “I’ve always collected interesting things and experimented with tribal patterns, 1980s graphics and jewels. This collection was inspired by navajo blankets and vintage designs.”

On scarves…”I love the discipline of working within a square; you can put a lot more detail in a small piece of textile like a scarf – even more than a large repeat print.”

On Liberty…”My personal connection with Liberty is through Tana Lawn fabrics, which I’ve always loved and worn. I also love the completely modern mix of product in store, when I’m designing I imagine the finished piece in the scarf room. I think the vibrancy of this room sets the tone for the whole store.”

Come in store tomorrow Friday 30th July from 1-7pm to meet Alison for yourself!
