‘Pieces’ by Martine Rose

The applause for Martine Rose’s exhibition at the MAN day, which closed February’s London Fashion Week, has barely subsided – and we were very much amongst the impressed parties. So, from June 6th our Menswear department will be playing host to Martine’s ‘Pieces’ shirt collection, presented as an installation of six shirts on an tableau of mannequins. All the shirts included in the installation will be available to purchase on a made-to-order basis, and produced exclusively in London.
The collection catches the eye immediately, the juxtaposition of colour and material is ambitious and it becomes clear that the designer is toying with, if not testing, the constraints of the form. Elements of sportswear are amalgamated with fine tailoring techniques, resulting in high-quality shirts boasting patches of quilting, foil and unconventional texture.
Prior to launching her own label, Martine was a founder member of highly-acclaimed fashion label LMNOP. Their collections were sold internationally with a core fan base in both Japan and England.
