We’re delighted to introduce a new name in design to Liberty - DecodeLondon. Winner of Best New Brand 2008 at the British Design Awards, DecodeLondon is a partnership between longstanding friends Ryan Malone and Giles Massie-Taylor who formed the company to showcase the creative talent of London based designers.
They look to work with anyone of a creative nature; whether they are designers, architects, illustrators or performers, the focus is always on representing an idea in the form of a product whether this is through aesthetic, function, material or process.
Ryan was kind enough to visit the store last week to give us an insight into his company and to explain a little bit more about the DecodeLondon products that we currently have available at Regent Street.

As you will see from the post below, Erickson Beamon were instore at the weekend showcasing their new collection. One piece in particular caught our eye and we don’t think it will be around long enough to put on the main site. So, we are exclusively offering it as a blog only purchase, if you would like to know any more info or wish to buy this stunning rose necklace then please call 0207 573 9645 or email libertyonline@liberty.co.uk
This piece is part of the range Paradise Lost, it is one of Vicki Beamon’s favourites, made from hundreds of Swarvoski Crystals. Each piece takes a couple of days to form by hand. In the name of research we went and tried it on, and it almost floats around the neck, truly a whimsical piece of statement jewellery.
It only came in to stock on Saturday it is the last one left so if you have your eye on it make sure you don’t miss out. It’s certainly an eyecatcher, perfect for the impending party season.

Erickson Beamon were the latest designers to show as part of the Jewellery Month Trunk Shows. A sparkly array of opulent pieces adorned the stand from earrings to full body creations from the current and new Spring 09 Collection.
Alex Stylianidis, our Jewellery Buying Manager comments:
“It is really an honour to invite Vicki Beamon to set up shop in our store for jewellery month. The lady who has made jewellery for the Queen herself is majestic herself and a magpie for all things sparkly. A true British icon now, Erickson Beamon will be presenting their Autumn Winter Icon collection as well as exclusive one-off pieces from their studio available for 2 days only. This lady knows how to finish off or start a festive outfit and will have you dripping in all things sparkly by the time she is finished with you.”
Vicki was on hand to answer some questions….
1/ How have you found partaking in Jewellery month at Liberty?
Erickson Beamon has existed for 25 years and we have always thought that doing trunk shows in the wonderful stores we sell to a very important part of our business. Not only is it great to meet the customers, but having some time with the staff so that they get a further understanding of our gorgeous jewellery and what actually goes into the making of it crucial.
2/ What inspires your designs/influences you as a designer?
My partner Karen in New York and myself have a great creative relationship. We design in both New York and London keeping the ideas flowing and fresh. There are many influences, architecture, art, literature, film. This really changes each season. Each collection has a name. For next Spring’s collection we have groups called Gypsy Sun which is a name taken from Jimi Hendrix and is a very Moroccan Coral and Turquise look. We also have Eliza Dolittle and My Fair Lady which is a much more romantic story made from flowers.
3/ What are your favourite pieces from this collection?
I think the Crystal pieces are wonderful choices as they can make a dramatic change to any outfit. I am particularly fond of the flower necklace which belongs to a group called Paradise Lost. This piece is made from Swarovski Crystal and it takes a couple of days to form by hand. The flower almost looks like it is floating in space!
4/ What are your trends/styles/colours for SS09?
I mentioned a few above but we also have a group called Boudica which is made from colourful Agate Slices and marbles! Jewellery is much chunkier for next season and it really is about big statement pieces. Some of the other trends we are working on are African and Folk Inspired and also a cleaner look in Black and White spots.
5/ What can we expect to see from Erickson Beamon next?
There are lots of ideas and we are really hoping to go into a few other accessory catagories next. We would love to have some evening bags for next year.
